Lead Poisoning

Recently a new friend of mine introduced me to a fascinating article about Lead Poisoning and Gout.

How does lead poisoning fit in?

Most information and stories about Gout paint pictures of raucous behavior; excessive consumption of alcohol, rich foods, and grand lifestyles of debauchery and hedonism. (what could be wrong with that?)

Kill Your Gout NOW! —>

What if the cause of the Disease of Kings came down to nothing more than plain old lead poisoning?

In Roman Times, they made pipes out of lead, eating and drinking vessels, cook ware and they even used it to sweeten wine. They even have a type of gout that comes from this: Saturnine Gout. It is also said that lead poisoning contributed to the Fall of the Roman Empire.

Lead poisoning is a medical condition caused by increased levels of the heavy metal lead in the body. Lead interferes with a variety of body processes and is toxic to many organs and tissues including the heart, bones, intestines, kidneys, and reproductive and nervous systems.”

“Lead poisoning and the gout connection”

A wise chap from the UK, George Glasser, hit the nail on the head (click here to go to his article about Lead Poisoning and Gout) when he said this:

“Today, most gout research is predicated on archaic notions and misinformation about the causes of gout. Consequently, many gout drugs simply alleviate a symptom and mask potentially fatal health problems.”

Baby boomers are more likely to get gout from lead poisoning.

Why? Because of all the lead paints and leaded gas that was used in the in last century. Check out George’s article, he goes deep into all of it. Lead poisoning causes all kinds of kidney damage and problems and therefore interrupts the ability to excrete uric acid sufficiently.

Another great article Bert,
Interesting and definitely good to know. A tasty little bit of info and glad to post it on my blog as well @ http://www.wellnessnutritioner.wordpress.com

I’ve had some relatives with gout and it has not been comfortable for them. Extremely painful to the point that their joints lock up on them.
